The Oaks Community Church
....passionately following Christ
"My house shall be called the house of prayer" (Matt.21:13)
The Oaks believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a church and as individuals. For that reason, we want to encourage you to make prayer the foundation of everything you are and do. As our relationship with God grows so does our prayer life. At The Oaks we offer prayer classes to help you grow in your prayer life and we frequently have periods of fasting and prayer. We also have a prayer ministry for intercessory prayer. Check out the Links on the right.
Intercessory prayer is the act of praying on behalf of others. The role of mediator in prayer was prevalent in the Old Testament, in the cases of Abraham, Moses, David, Samuel, Hezekiah, Elijah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. Christ is pictured in the New Testament as the ultimate intercessor, and because of this, all Christian prayer becomes intercession since it is offered to God through and by Christ. Jesus closed the gap between us and God when He died on the cross. Because of Jesus’ mediation, we can now intercede in prayer on behalf of other Christians or for the lost, asking God to grant their requests according to His will.
God calls all Christians to be intercessors. It is God’s desire that every believer be active in intercessory prayer. What a wonderful and exalted privilege we have in being able to come boldly before the throne of Almighty God with our prayers and requests!
It is our prayer and desire that this page will serve you as you seek to become a stronger prayer warrior and a champion for prayer in your church. May God bless you as you intercede for His Church and servants worldwide, praying for His Spirit to open hearts so that every people group and nation would receive the gift of salvation.
