Sheltered In Place

In The Shelter & Shadow of The Almighty

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease." Psalm 91:1-3

Dear Oaks family,

Let’s “shelter in place” in the shelter and shadow of the Most High and the Most Nigh God – our Almighty Heavenly Father.

In view of governor Newsom‘s order for people to remain home, we will not be hosting worship services or small groups at our facility. But we will continue to follow the Lord’s commands in Hebrews 10:23–25: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate [sharpen] one another to love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another –and all the more as you see the Day [of Jesus‘ return] drawing near.” Therefore, in the coming days to help all of us continue in God’s Word, worship, fellowship, and witness for Christ, we will be expanding our electronic ministries and communications through our website and also by hosting small groups using Zoom. Please visit our website at www.theoaksweb.com for communication updates and to access ministry resources for you, your youth, and your children. We have literally hundreds of previous messages and worship services from various teachers and services at The Oaks online that you can easily access. (For example, check out “The More of the Spirit” messages by clicking that icon on the front page of the website.)

Please also watch Pastor Nate‘s video message for our church family so you can learn about the various resources we will be making available and so you can stay in touch with us. There will be regular updates posted on our website so visit it often in the coming days. We also want you to communicate with us any needs you may have by emailing us at: toccbakersfield@gmail.com if you have a question or a need of any kind and we will have a staff member or a volunteer leader get in touch with you.

Please also go to our website this Sunday morning and in upcoming Sundays at 10 AM for an encouraging and uplifting message for you that I will be sharing from Psalm 91. You can access this message any time from 10 AM on – we encourage our entire church family to watch this message to help us seek the Lord and trust in the Lord together, and grow in unity as a church family.

May God‘s grace and peace surround you and your loved ones in these challenging times. Let’s keep our church family, our community, and our nation in prayer that we will all find our shelter in the shadow of the Almighty.

With much love, and many prayers for you and your families,

Pastor Gary

PS We are sorry to inform you also that we must indefinitely postpone our annual vision and decision meeting that was scheduled for Sunday, March 29. We will let you know down the road when this important meeting for our TOCC family will take place.
